Collecting Scrap metal for Beer!

Ok so I know this sounds really ghetto but I’ve started doing something that “I” think is a really great idea. You know how when you drive down the road, especially in bad neighborhoods there’s always beer cans and coke cans on the side of the road? Well that’s as good as cash laying everywhere if you know how to look it up on a the scrap metal price list. Lately I’ve been going out with a trash bag (ok I’m not proud of it, well maybe sort of) and collecting a bunch of scrap metal. I take it home and you can find out what type of scrap metal it is by doing a quick google search. Once you find out what type it is you can look it up on the scrap metal price list and find out how much it’s worth. Then all you have to do is look up a scrap dealer in your area and drop it off with him. He’ll give you direct cash for it! You can use those cash for cans places but they aren’t always as giving as the scrap metal dealers so you can usually get more money other places although I do like those because they’re convenient. After awhile I’ve been finding really good hot spots and I’m practically look up the scrap metal price list junctions every day. So if you want a little extra money to cover your beer tab on the weekend collect some scrap metal!

Learning golf in all kinds of rain

I may have started golfing at a bad time, because I swear every time I go to the course I end up getting drenched in rain or being freezing cold. The alternative would be to go to an indoor miniature golf course but I don’t think they’ll appreciate me driving golf balls accross the entire room at 40 mph. I started wearing some rain coats but that really sucks just because they don’t really fit you right for golfing, it restricts my movement and I feel like I’m learning bad habits. I did some searching on google and found some links and information on golf rain suits that have really helped my game in bad weather conditions. Right now I’m going to the golf course enough that I don’t want to be held back by the weather.

I think that learning to play in all kinds of golf weather conditions is super important just because you never know what your’e going to need to play in if you go to a real match. It also adds a little fun dynamic to it simply because it’s not the usual thing that you’re doing. Anyway, I’ll continue to work on my swing and my distance especially (my accuracy is surprisingly good) and we’ll see how far I can go. Hopefully I have disrupted my form too badly from using crappy rain coats that restricted my movement. I swear the next day when I went I was still golfing like I was in a tight fitting jacket…not to mention I ripped a hole in the side when I followed through with my swing. I think that playing in strange weather has actually helped my game strangely enough. It’s like lif you can hit a ball accurately when the wind is blowing and rain is in your face then you can for sure do it on a dry and beautiful day.

I think overall I just need to get out as much as possible, not only does it improve my game but it’s a cool stress reliever and let’s me get away from regular things in life that I don’t like. I think half of golf is just enjoying myself outdoors and as time goes by and I get better that’s just an added bonus.

Decorating the House

Been decorating my house lately, well the gf has more than anyone and I thought that I wouldn’t enjoy it very much but it’s actually pretty fun. We’ve painted the walls and put in some new furnature. Gloria has been buying a buch of cheap glass vases and putting them around the house after she read on some websites how to make them look nice. Some of them I’m really impressed with but I think she might be getting a little too artsy fartsy with some of the items. I like vases and they can look good but she has toy cars in some of them and I think it looks tacky. Maybe I’ll have to “accidentally” break one of them. We tried out the new grill again last weekend and it was exceptionally good, definitely a great buy. We’ve been spending a lot of money on stuff right now but I think it’s worth it and we’re cutting costs in other places, especially with the cheap glass vases. Some of them were over two hundred dollars in the stores when we shopped, but we found some at a garage sale for like twenty bucks that looked just as nice, and then we added stuff to them.

The house is really starting to look like home now that we’ve decorated it, I think we need to get up some paintings in some of the rooms but I’ll wait until next paycheck to get that stuff done and once I get my car paid off I can really start investing it. Maybe I’ll start selling cheap vases at a high price and make them all fancy!

Got my Grill!

Ok so I lost my page on the university site but that’s understandable, they couldn’t really keep it going when i’m no longer attending. Now that I’m out on my own and making some REAL money (thank goodness) I’ve been buying a lot of things that I just want. Let’s face it, for the past five years I’ve been getting by on just the bare necessities and eating roman noodles out of a styrophoam cup. So many nights I thought about how nice it would be to just have a juicy steak or some good home cooked meal. So the first thing I bought when I got out was an infrared grill and all I can say is this thing is amazing! I just cooked myself two steaks (I can spoil myself) and they were amazing. probably the best steaks I’ve had in, well, five years. I had it with some salad dressed in balsamic vinegar dressing which was a pretty amazing combination. This thing cooked it amazingly fast and the best part is it cooked it super even all the way through.

I don’t even really know how the infrared works on the thing, I just see it getting red hot then I throw the steak on and it starts to cook – pretty amazing if you ask me. It’s a TEC and I got it online. I read a lot about how it might be dangerous for you cooking on infrared grills but there really hasn’t been any conclusive evidence towards this at all. I guess if I start to grow a third arm I’ll know something’s up (I could eat more steaks!).

I think my next purchase after my infrared grill is going to be a home gym. I really let myself go at college and want to get back into shape so I can start enjoying my physical life again. Probably get involved in soccer and maybe some tennis…but I guess if I’m going to get back into shape I need to quick cooking steaks on my infrared grill and start thinking about chicken or something heh.
